The term “Blue Zones” was coined by Dan Buettner, a National Geographic Explorer and Fellow, during a project in 2004. Imagine that we were to bring the principles of Blue Zones into our daily lives while supporting the vibrant businesses that make our town unique.
In 2000, Buettner explored Okinawa, Japan, known for its remarkable longevity. Fueled by the support of National Geographic, he and his team of scientists set out to discover regions globally where people not only live longer but also enjoy a high quality of life in their later years.
